Zone Atelier is the custom design studio of Chicagobased fashion designer Pamela Vanderlinde. Prior to opening her studio, Pamela owned and operated Zone, a womens clothing boutique located in the Chicago Lincoln Park neighborhood for eleven years. The store was a think tank of sorts for the designer, allowing her to interact directly with her consumer and receive valuable feedback from the actual woman buying her clothes. The growing demand from her clientele for her custom designs gave Pamela the occasion to shutter the boutique in late 2007 and concentrate solely on her atelier.
Pamela’s design philosophy incorporates beautiful fabrics combined with old world tailoring to create timeless pieces that can be worn for a lifetime. She travels the world seeking out ideas for her unique designs. Whether it be having wools woven in
a Scottish mill based on Sonia Delauney’s textile designs, hand embroidered pieces inspired by mosaics from Wat Po in Bangkok or the gardens she encounters in Europe, everything is a source of inspiration to the designer.
Being active in the design community in Chicago, Pamela is a part-time faculty member in the fashion design program at The Illinois Institute of Art-Chicago, bringing her knowledge and skills to the next generation of designers.
